Winter vacation

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court will remain closed from December 24 to 31 on account of winter vacation (Christmas holidays).

During the vacation, the office  of the Court will function from Dec 26 to 28 and remain closed on Dec 24, 25, 29 and Dec 31, according to an official release.  

 

AAPUEA demands creation of more technical posts

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Claiming that many technical posts are being occupied by non-technical staff in many departments including education, forest, sports, tourism, Arunachal Police Housing Corporation, the All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Engineers’ Association (AAPUEA), in a memorandum to CM today said that such steps were blocking scope for generation of employment.  The Association said that more technical posts should be created to accommodate unemployed engineers of the state.

 

Society seeks CM’s intervention

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Totpu Panchayat Youth Welfare Society (TPYWS) has sought the intervention of the Chief Minister for early solution to the problems of agitating SSA teachers.

In a letter addressed to the CM, the Society said the on-going agitation of SSA teachers has badly affected the academic career of the students under Sagalee area. The students are facing hardship without any fault on their part due to on-going pen down strike of the  SSA teachers, the Association said. It urged the Govt to consider the genuine demand of the AASSATA  in greater interest of the student community.

Meanwhile, Parang Panchayat Youth Welfare Society in a letter appealed to the Director of School Education to intervene in the ongoing All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhyan Teachers’ Association’s (AASSATA) pen down strike.

It said that the academic atmosphere of Parang has been hampered due the pen down strike as most of the schools under Parang circle are run by SSA teachers.

The society urged the Director to initiate necessary steps to address the grievances of AASSATA.

 

Training on FTK held

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE & WS) Division, Seppa successfully conducted Training on handling of Field Test Kit (FTK) cum Awareness Campaign under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) in four blocks, namely Seppa East, Seppa West, Bameng East and Bameng West on December 15 and 16.

A large number of village water and sanitation committee (VWSC) members attended the training cum awareness program.

The villagers were trained on the handling of Field Test Kit (FTK) for water quality testing and each VWSC member was given FTK for their use.

Addressing the trainees, ZPM Boru Sangyu encouraged them to do training sincerely for the betterment of every villager.

Tafang Bagang, AE, Khenewa, briefed the motto and importance of the training program while Tung Sono, AE, Seppa, emphasized on the necessity of quality drinking water and importance of sanitation in daily life.

The resource persons of the training program Jecob Ratan, JE, Taring Monpak, Raju Bagang, Kevin Nabam, and Kojam Gyadi all JEs with the help of Pritam Waii and Ponam Doka, Laboratory Assistants demonstrated the handling of Field Test Kit to the trainees.

Md. Saddruddin, JE spoke on NBA and elaborately discussed the significance of sanitation and hygiene. He also briefed the villagers about various program undertaken by PHED which include construction of low cost individual household latrine (IHHL).

Later, he demonstrated various galvanized iron (GI) fittings and tools required in maintenance of water supply pipelines.

 

Org demands arrest of all accused in PDS scam

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) has urged the state Govt to book all the persons involved in multi-crore PDS scam in the state.

Appreciating the NGO which had filed PIL in 2004 regarding PDS scam and subsequent constitution of SIT to enquire into the scam,  the organization also appealed  other organizations to raise voice against corruption in the state. It, however, lauded the state Govt for bringing development in various sectors in the state.

 

B’desh Minister visits Arunachal pavilion in 11th IITF

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The Department of Textiles and Handicraft along with Oju Welfare Association and M/s Poma Bamboo Processing Center are participating in the 11th India International Mega Trade Fair, which started in Kolkata on December 14.

Muhammad Quader, MP and Commerce Minister of Bangladesh, who inaugurated the Trade Fair, visited Arunachal pavilion along with other dignitaries. The Trade Fair gives an opportunity to showcase the unique products and highlights the best potential for growth and development. Self-styled NSCN-IM brigadier nabbed

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: In a major breakthrough Tirap District Police have arrested self-styled Brigadier Absalom Raman @ Absalom Tangkhul @ Rokwang of NSCN (IM).

Acting on a specific tip off the Arunachal Police team with the help of Assam Police meticulously executed the carefully planned operation. The dreaded UG leader has been active in Tirap and Changlang for over 10 years and is the man behind the ingress and establishment of NSCN (IM) in a previously NSCN (K) dominated area. He was also responsible for setting up of a camp deep in the jungles near Longbo village. The camp was discovered and destroyed in a two days long operation on 17 and 18 December 2011. Coincidentally he got arrested exactly one year after the incident. This is probably the biggest catch of a UG leader in Arunachal Pradesh.

 

Training programme on Data Management System

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: A week-long training programme on "Data Management System" for Ministerial Staff of Arunachal Pradesh Secretariat and HoDs of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli commenced at Administrative Training Institute, Naharlagun today. Altogether twenty seven officials of the level of LDCs, UDCs etc are attending the Programme.

In the inaugural function Pema Tshetan, Director (Training) said "in the present context of administration and office management, proper knowledge of Computer Application is a requisite parameter to become an efficient supporting staff".

He further said "acquiring of proper competence and skill of Computer Application primarily depends on how much of personal interest you give in learning" and added that "Data Base Management" is the backbone of managing office and every dealing hand in offices should be well versed with this technological knowledge.

T. Lodo, Dy. Director and Course Coordinator highlighted the course content and appraised about the practical hands-on session that have been arranged in the Computer Lab of ATI.

Palvinder Singh, Director of A to Z Computer Education and two faculties of his institute are attending the training as resource persons.

 

District level PdsVC meeting held

BOMDILA, Dec 17: The 3rd District Level PDS Vigilance Committee meeting for monitoring of the drawal, lifting and delivery of PDS commodities in the district up to November 2012 was held on 14th last under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner KMD Rai here at Bomdila.

As E-PDS has been made mandatory by the government, salient features and reasons for early implementation of the same was presented by the DF&CSO T Gamlin.

Sub-division and circle-wise review of the Vigilance committee meetings, drawal and delivery reports of rice, wheat, atta, levy sugar, HTS bills – status and submission, action taken report by the administrative officers and miscellaneous discussions on land allotment, rent realization, godown and staff quarter construction, target achievement of FPS, SKO, POL and LPG outlets etc consisted the agendas for discussion.

The ZPC along with other ZPMs, administrative officers of the outposts, representative from the police, PDS nominees and SKO dealers and supply inspectors of the district attended the meeting. DIPRO

Kalaktang limping back to normalcy

KALAKTANG, Dec 17: After 10 days of Kalaktang inferno which gutted 22 shops on December 8 last, Kalaktang is gradually coming back to normalcy.

Though reconstruction of shops and complete rehabilitation of people affected by the inferno will take some time, the most heartening aspect of the whole tragedy is coming together of administration, local people of Kalaktang, army and BRO to provide relief and give succor to the affected people.

“The fateful night has passed but has left incurable wounds in our minds which will be very difficult to heal,” said Dorjee Tsewang, a victim.  He thanked the local MLA cum Principal Advisor to CM T N Thongdok for his prompt action in providing relief and expressing solidarity to the victims.

It may be mentioned that Thongdok had provided Rs 5 lakh to the affected families as relief besides pressing the Chief Minister for providing adequate relief. The CM had subsequently announced Rs 1 lakh each as ex-gratia to the affected families.

Around 25 families displaced due to the inferno have been temporarily accommodated in the Government’s inspection bungalow. The local administration, Army and local people have been providing food and other logistic support to the families regularly.  

Tsering Sonam, a local youth leader patched in with material like blanket and utensil for the affected people.

The Tsopa, KEWA and Bazaar Union are still providing its services to the affected people. There were so many unsung heroes like EAC Sang Khandu, who mobilized the BRTF and personnel of 16 Jakli, SMO, CHC, Kalaktang Dr. R.N.Thongchi who provided leadership and motivation to officials and public who braved the burning inferno on the night of the accident which prevented further spread of fire.

 

 

Tripartite meet to resolve crisis at Tato HE Project

AALO, Dec 17: Under mounting pressure from land owners and project affected people of Tato Circle, a tripartite meet involving disgruntled project affected people, District administration and Reliance Company was held under the Chairmanship of West Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete at Conference Hall of DC’s office on December 14 last.

Expressing their vociferous ire for delay in making the payment of compensation despite cooperation of the people to make the Reliance Company as the frontrunner and take it up to the payment stage, the project affected people wanted to know the intension of the company about the project.

The land for the project has been acquisitioned 4 years back and kept unutilized and cultivated after handing over to the company. The delay in payment of compensation despite repeated assurances has inflicted untold miseries to the people and interest of the company to take up the project was put under serious question. The land owners disclosed that many problems have cropped up among the project affected people and they all wanted written assurances from the company on payment of compensation.

Representing the company Naveen Alag, Senior Vice President THPPL said that interest of the company to invest into the project has never died down and all essential clearances have been completed with the cooperation of the people but only forest clearances is lying as stumbling  block to clear the payment and start the  ground works. He disclosed that govt. direction to work out cumulative study of all bio diversities all along the river basin has been worked out and the proposal will soon get the Govt. nod by coming March, he said. The Vice President also assured to give in writing to Deputy Commissioner about the comprehensive action plan partly to accommodate the immediate grievances of the project affected people within a week time. He also assured to look into relief payment of 96 affected families at the rate of Rs. 5000 per month with retrospective effect.

Presiding over the meeting, West Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete said that the company should also give an impression that they are serious about the project as district administration has to handle law and order problems that arise from time to time. ATA suspends stir temporarily

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The federal bodies of Arunachal Teachers Association have unanimously decided to temporarily suspend the pen down strike launched by AASSATA for three weeks due to FA-3 (formative assessment) examination scheduled by CBSE in the secondary schools. This decision was taken in a federal body meeting of district ATA units with Central executive committee of ATA held at Naharlagun today, according to an ATA release.

ATA in its release further informed that the federal bodies served an ultimatum to the Govt to redress the grievances of AASSATA in regard to regularization of remaining 2003 batch SSA teachers within three weeks beginning from Dec 18.  

The federal body of ATA further endorsed CEC, ATA to immediately discuss and address the pay anomalies with government with the stipulated time of three weeks. The meeting further resolved to resume the state wide indefinite pen and tool down strike from January 8, 2013, in case the state Govt fails to address the grievances of AASSATA and ATA’s demand for rectification of pay-anomalies AT’s and other categories of teachers.

“However, the AASSATA may continue its movement during the course of ATA’s three weeks ultimatum. Further, members of ATA also resolved not to tolerate any action against the agitating teachers,” said ATA release.

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The 40th school week celebration of Govt Higher Secondary School, Doimukh has successfully concluded here last evening.

Attending the function, Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board (APBOCWWB) Chairman Jalley Sonam emphasized on the importance of education in one’s life. He said, “Education is not only learning from books, memorizing some facts, but also learning how to look, how to listen to what the books are saying, whether they are saying something true or false. Infact the very essence of education is the concentration of mind and not merely a collection of collation of facts”. As Swami Vivekananda says, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already present in man” so education is something which is there within us it’s just how much we strive for it and how much we desire to learn something new and to develop ourselves, he asserted while advocating for quality education combined with the traditional values and modern knowledge and information. Stressing on importance of cultural & sports activities in student life, he urged the students to take active part in such extra-curricular activities.

Informing that the present state govt under Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has given top priority to education sector, he said various technical and non-technical educational institutions are coming up in the state which will create ample opportunities to the students in their chosen fields.   

Meanwhile, while expressing grave concern over various evils like drug addiction, alcoholism, HIV and criminal activities in the society, he called upon the students and general people to come together and fight against such evils.

The programme concluded with distribution of the prizes to the winners of various events.

Tuki chosen for IAEWP lifetime achievement award

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The toil and commitment to deliver in a short span of little over one year has caught the attention of the world.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has achieved a milestone for the first time in the history of Arunachal Pradesh. He has been selected by the International Association of Educators for World Peace (IAEWP) for a Lifetime Achievement Award.

IAEWP, which is affiliated to United Nations – ECOSOC, DPI, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNCED, has selected Tuki for the prestigious award on recommendations of its Search Committee. The Lifetime Award will be conferred on him during a ceremony at India International Center, New Delhi on December 30 next. Besides the individual award he would also receive the Green State of the Year Award on behalf of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for maintaining greenery in the state.

The news has been well received by all and sundry and congratulations have started to pour him. The Chief Minister has dedicated the award to the people, particularly those in the interior and rural places.

Meanwhile, this afternoon Tuki along with Education Minister Bosiram Siram, Parliamentary Secretary Padi Richo, MLAs Bamang Felix and Ralom Borang, UD Secretary Hage Khoda Shalla, Capital DC, Political Secretary to CM Bamang Tago and Chief Engineer (WZ) T Gongo visited the under-construction Civil Secretariat, Legislative Assembly Building and the MLA Apartments. In the last one year he has visited to take stock of the progress of construction of these important building several times.  Interacting with officials executing the projects, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the rate of progress. He, however, reiterated that no matter what the projects should be completed as per schedule and without compromising with quality of works.

 

 

Meeting resolves to promote ‘home-stay’

BOMDILA, Dec 17: A meeting on promotion of Home-stay under the tourism sector in the district was convened by the District Tourism Officer T Rigio under the chairmanship of ADC KMD Rai here today morning. The guidelines and other modalities on Home- stay in the state were thoroughly discussed upon. The DTO dealt at length on the role of the district officials on operation of home-stays, checklist of facilities to be adhered to and on the procedures for recommendation for approval for running of home-stays.

The meeting which was attended by the Zilla Parishad Chairperson Logiang Rikhong, ZPMS of Thrizino, Kalaktang and Singchung, Board members, tour operators and other stake holders basically felt and echoed the need to promote home-stays in the district to promote rural tourism in line with that of Sikkim and Ziro valley  in Lower Subansiri district of the state. Another consensus arrived upon was the need for exposure and exposure trips for the people committed to venture into this field as Home-stays in the district is almost nil. Further, the tourist arrival reports shows preference of the tourists in staying at hotels lined across the main road, they observed.

Elephants create terror on NH-52

RUKSIN, Dec 17: A herd of wild elephants on the National Highway-52 near Leku forest beat office created terror among the cab drivers and  passengers today evening. The tuskers stayed on the highway for about an hour preventing movement of many vehicles. Two tuskers tried to attack one stranded vehicle but the driver sensing the impending danger drove his vehicle back to safety.

Later, the herd of elephants entered into the forest bringing an end to hour-long drama.

More often than not the tuskers from Poba Reserve Forest at Ruksin create havoc by damaging banana gardens, crop fields and dwelling houses.

According to forest officials, the main cause of the man-elephant conflict is rapid deforestation and loss of elephant habitat.

The herd of elephant regularly roams the area as there was an elephant corridor at Pobamukh in between Poba RF and Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary.

The NH-52, which is entering the state through Ruksin Check gate passes through Poba Reserve Forest along Assam-Arunachal border. The Leku beat office is located at 4 km east of Ruksin town. The people demanded the forest department of both the states to maintain regular patrolling to regulate the elephant movement in the reserve forest areas.

 

 

Dere epitomizes symbol of unity and oneness: DC

AALO, Dec  17: The West Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete inaugurated the Wak Ragi Dere constructed under MPLAD fund on December 15.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the DC said that the Dere epitomizes the symbol of unity and oneness as entire activities of the village take place in it and it is important to keep intact its age old sanctity. Any tangible development always depends on education and health of the society, he said and appealed to the young generation to inculcate the spirit of competitiveness in them to lead the society.

Replying to the public memorandum submitted by Litem Ete, Village President, the DC assured to look into the demand for appointment of another GB for the village as per the norms laid down by the Govt. and look out ways and means to fulfill the long felt need of the village to get the irrigation channel from the village to the cultivation areas.

Modam Jini, SE Electrical Aalo Circle appealed to the intellectuals to play a constructive role to take the society to the path of development and assured to take remedial measures to electrical disruptions faced by the people owing to fault in different location.

Consultative Committee and DLRC meeting of lead banks

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: District Consultative Committee and DLRC meeting of Lead Banks of Lower Dibang Valley district for the quarter ending September, 2012 was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shiv Kumar in his office chamber recently.

The meeting reviewed action points taken in the last meeting held on August 28.

Abhijit K. Deb, Chief Manager (Lead Bank) and branch managers of different banks informed about the present position regarding KCC loan, formation of Farmers Club, opening of SHG A/C etc.

The Chief Manager (LB) informed that while the issue of KCC loan, formation of Farmer’s Club and opening of SHG account in the district was not satisfactory the recovery position of the district was also not up to the mark. He requested the Bank Branches to seek help of Govt. functionaries in this regard and maintain close liaison with the Govt. authorities for recovery of bank’s dues. He requested for preparation of Department wise defaulters list and separate list for Bakijai cases.

He advised all the banks to form Farmers Club with the help of NABARD since the Farmers Clubs are playing a fantastic role in banking activity. He also informed that the AGL growth for the quarter ending September, 2012 is 13.80% against the state’s 22.13% and National Norms of 18%.

Chief Manager informed that ACP has been declared and handed over to the respective banks for necessary action during April/May 2012. He said that the performance of the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) at the end of September 2012 was not up to the mark except SBI. He informed that the RBI has viewed seriously regarding low C:D Ratio of the district and advised to form a Sub-Committee with the approval of DCC to monitor the issue.

The Deputy Commissioner also told the Branch Managers to initiate efforts to form more Farmers Club and SHGs in consultation with the BDOs. He asked the BDOs to sponsor SHGs and told that all Banks should explore agriculture based viable schemes to finance.

Review of performance of banks under Annual Credit Plan 2012-13 and implementation of various schemes, like PMEGP, SGSY, etc were also discussed.

Security Arrangements of the Banks were also reviewed and issues pertaining to District Level Currency Management Committee were also discussed in the meeting.

BBK convention concludes

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The two-day convention of Bogum Boka Keba (BBK) concluded at Gumin Kiin, Aalo yesterday.

A gathering of central executives and members of BBK, Pasighat, Gaon buras, Galo elders, Galo Welfare Society members, various students unions and welfare associations attended the convention.

The chief guest of the convention retired IAS officer Oshong Ering unveiled the “BBK Pillar” followed by ritual for universal brotherhood and peace by Nyibu Geli Ete.

The BBK Convention started with inaugural speech by the President, Organising Committee, Nyadar Loya, who briefed on the historical importance of the institution of BBK.

Domin Ete, Social Activist, anchored the whole agenda of the convention.

In his keynote address, Tanya Dabi, Secretary General, BBK, recalled the history when the last Bogum Boka meeting was convened at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in 2000. He went on to inform the gathering that the BBK office bearers have preserved the documents of 22nd March 1949 wherein the stalwarts like Lt. Kutik Moyong, Lt. Okep Tayeng and Lt. Tamik Dabi made a whirlwind tour to integrate the people of all Adi areas. Unity of Adi has been always been emphasised by people of the earlier days, he said. Reiterating that the institution of Bogum Bokang is a centripetal force to unite and strengthen the Society, he stated that it originated only to regulate and monitor the society existing since time immemorial. He welcomed each and every Banggo representatives to come with proposal and regulations to be finalised for adoption in its General Conference. Besides, he thanked the mobilizing group of Galo Peoples’ Federation (GPF) in order to revive the Bogum Boka Institution and their efforts to conduct the Aalo Convention 2012.

In his speech, Oshong Ering told that there existed no conception in dividing the Adi Society and blamed the politics and selfish motive for the division. He also defined “Adi” and later released a self authored book “Who are Adis?”

Taring Tabi, Chairman, Adi Tosina Ao Kebang, spoke at length of the BBK Institution and the umbrella of “Adi”. Representatives of Loum Banggo, Lodu Banggo, Liromoba Banggo, Taruk Banggo, Kamba Banggo and others also spoke on the occasion.

Dumo Lollen represented the Galo Welfare Society and emphasised that Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and GWS should take up the burden to make the BBK as the highest body of the entire Adi people.

Raksap Yomcha dwelt at length on the 14th and 15th July 2012 BBK meeting at Itanagar wherein the representatives of all Siang districts, Dumporijo constituency, Mechuka sub-division and clan-based leaders of Galo attended the historic meeting. He emphasised the “BBK” as the common platform of the Siang people and appealed to the people not to undermine the age-old institution for selfish and political motives.

Appreciating the Organising Committee, he advised them to proceed with proper plan to convene such historic event and try to revive at the Banggo levels.

 

 

Podumoni Govt Middle school celebrates golden jubilee

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Government Middle School, Podumoni in Lekang circle of Lohit district celebrated its Golden Jubilee yesterday.

Government Middle School, Podumoni was set up in 1954, as a community school and was recognized as a government school in 1962.

Finance Minister Chowna Mein in his address recalled the rich history of the school stating that the region was aware of the importance of education even 50 years back when there was very little emphasis on primary education anywhere else in the country. He stated that the hard work and dedication of the people who laid the foundation of the school cannot be understated and they bequeathed a rich legacy of education in the region. He also emphasized on the role of teachers, to prepare students for facing a highly competitive world.

Mein felicitated old school teachers, village representatives, Gaon Buras (GBs), who have played very important role in the progress of the region.

It is noteworthy that Podumoni GP was conferred Nirmal Gram Puruskar in 2011 which is an important milestone in the history of the school.

The Finance Minister stressed on improving the infrastructure in the school and promised for creation of additional classrooms, barracks, quarters for teachers and creation of boundary walls for preventing encroachment.

Govt ‘closely watching’ all activities of China: Antony

New Delhi, Dec 17: Government is “closely watching” all activities of China and necessary measures have been initiated to protect the economic and security interests of the country, Defence Minister A K Antony said today.

“Government is closely watching all activities of China and is fully seized of security needs of the country.

Necessary measures have been initiated to ensure national security and economic interests of the country,” Antony said in Lok Sabha in response to a query.

Responding to a query on China’s plan to establish an astronomical observatory in Aksai Chin area with help of Japan and South Korea, he said, “the observatory is apparently coming up at Shiquanhe which is located in the People’s Republic of China.”

In reply to a query on the US government’s request for missions in the Northeast region to recover remains of US service personnel who died in World War-II, he said, “So far, three missions have been conducted.

“All future missions are envisaged to be conducted after due consultation with relevant agencies in central government and concerned state governments.”

To a query on removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from Jammu and Kashmir, Antony said, “no decision has been taken so far to withdraw it from any area of the state.”

“The Group of Interlocutors in their report has suggested amendment of AFSPA as one of the measures,” he said. PTI

Staple food chains in Asia

At the height of the 2008 food price surge, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) set up the International Food Policy Research Institute to study the staple food value chains in Bangladesh, China and India and recommend measures that could make them more responsive to rising food demand and supply constraints across the Asian region. The study revealed that staple food value chains in Asia, generally perceived as being primitive, protracted and fragmented, were in fact rapidly transforming, with fewer intermediate actors, better integration and higher receptiveness to technological changes.

The picture of a quiet revolution emerging from the study belies several of the Indian government’s assumptions for letting FDI into the multi-brand retail space. The quiet revolution in staple food value chains is now changing the face of Asia, the report asserts based on a rigorous review of the structural transformation routes of food chains and the catalytic roles available to governments, the private sector, civil society, and international development institutions.

The study provides critical guideposts for assessing and addressing all segments of the food chains that unnecessarily contribute to higher retail food prices. It shows how staple food value chains can benefit inclusive economic growth (which FDI may not promote).

This study shows that value chain transformation is important to farmers’ incomes, rural employment, and access to and affordability of staples for urban consumers. This is especially important, given that Asia’s urban areas are home to half of Asia’s population and account for two-thirds to three-quarters of its food demand. Harnessing the value chain transformation for food security should, therefore, be at the front and center of the policy agenda for the 21st century.

AAPSU stands dissolved

Through your esteemed daily we would like to inform all  concerns that the notification issued by Takam Tatung on dated 17th December 2012 for the conduction of AAPSU election from 21st to 25th December 2012 at Dera Natung Govt. College Itanagar in the local dailies of the state was issued without the consent and knowledge of the other outgoing Central Executive Members of AAPSU.

Further, we the outgoing Central Executive Members of AAPSU clarifies that with the constitution of Interim Committee, DSUs on 24th November, 2012 at Hotel Arun Subansiri, Itanagar  the AAPSU stands dissolved permanently till the successful conduction of fresh election by Interim Committee, DSUs. Moreover, Takam Tatung and other Central Executive Members of AAPSU have no any authority to interfere/conduct the AAPSU election in any form. The outgoing Central Executive Members of AAPSU have endorsed the Interim Committee, DSUs headed by  Tagru Tame as its Chairman to conduct the election as per their resolution/decision/ adopted earlier.

Therefore no more press releases or any form of advertisement should be carried in the local print & electronic media of the state on election matter of AAPSU which carries the name & designation of any outgoing Central executive members of AAPSU so as to avoid further confusion on the said election matter of AAPSU.

Few words regarding Yaja Waii memorial T20 cricket tournament

Dear Editor,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of authority concerned regarding the 3rd Yaja Waii T20 cricket tournament which was held recently at Seppa, East Kameng district.

First of all, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Parliamentary secretary, RWD, Kumar Waii, who was chief patron of the tournament and the organizing committee for conducting the tournament successfully. I would also like to congratulate the winning team, namely, CCCC for its outstanding performance.

The tournament earned special respect and honor from each corner and also brought name and fame for Seppa. Seppa is now becoming famous for good things. We prove that we are friendly nature.

It is worth mentioning here that many players had been hired especially from Assam to play the match may be under the guidelines of the tournament. But my point of view is that they (Assam) have better sports infrastructure than Arunachal. Assam players are also representing in the Ranji Trophy and other national level events.   In the sports arena, they are marching ahead.

The need of the hours is to encourage our Arunachal youths to take sports as a profession and to represent Arunachal in domestic, National and International level events. We should encourage them and provide good platform to enhance their hidden talent. Further, we should not afraid of losing. Winning or  losing is a part and parcel of the game. We must accept this.

My apprehension is that if this trend of hiring players continues then our Arunachalee players  will not get opportunity to expose their hidden talent. Therefore, we should introspect and  take corrective measures in order to get exposed hidden talent of Arunachalee youths in sports.

Sagalee needs fire preventive measures

Dear Editor,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the higher authorities towards the frequent fire accidents that have been taking place in Sagalee town. The fire accidents, which occur repeatedly in Sagalee Town under Papum Pare district, pose a serious threat to both Govt and private properties and lives of the people of the township. The fire accidents occur many times within town area due to lack of preventive measures.

Recently a fire mishap took place at the Don Bosco School, Sagalee. The kitchen room of the hostel was completely gutted in a mid night fire. Fortunately, the fire did not engulf the hostels. One wonders what would happen to the students if the fire engulfed the school or hostels.

It is observed that the state Govt is not taking preventive measure to safe the township and its people from frequent fire accident.

Therefore, I request the state Govt to take the matter seriously to prevent fire accident before it creates huge destruction to our lives and properties in Sagalee town. If it is not possible to provide fire brigade at this moment, the authorities may take some other measures like availability of water tank to douse the fire in case of fire accident.
